MACOMB FARMER’S MARKET
Eagle View
Hannah Alecock is not a complete stranger to Macomb’s Farmers Market. Last summer she had made it a goal to become more present in the McDonough County area, and when she discovered the Macomb market she signed on for the last few events. Hannah will be a regular presence at the 2026 summer Macomb Farmers Market.
Hannah is employed by the Eagle View Community Health System and her exact title is a “Get Covered Illinois Navigator and Community Health Worker.” She graduated from West Central High School in Biggsville, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Buena Vista University. She has been a resident of Henderson County for most of her life.
After graduation from college, she has worked in a variety of human services roles, gaining experience supporting individuals and communities.
Hannah joined Eagle View in July 2024. She lives in Oquawka and previously worked in Burlington, Iowa for most of her employment history, but was motivated to find a position closer to home where she could better serve and support her own community.
Eagle View is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides comprehensive care, including medical and dental services, substance abuse counseling, and behavioral health counseling at three locations including Oquawka, Monmouth and Stronghurst. Their goal is to support the overall health and well-being of the individuals and communities they serve.
Hannah helps individuals and families understand their health coverage options through programs like Get Covered Illinois and Medicaid. Get Covered Illinois is the state’s official health insurance marketplace, where people can compare plans, see if they qualify for financial assistance, and enroll in coverage that fits their needs and budget. Many individuals are surprised to learn they may qualify for significant savings, making health insurance more affordable.
Medicaid, on the other hand, provides free or lowcost health coverage to those who meet certain income and eligibility requirements. This includes families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
Hannah’s role is to make the process simple and stress-free. She works one-on-one with people to explain their options in plain language and to check their eligibility for financial assistance or medicaid. Next, she helps people complete and submit applications and ensures that they choose a plan that fits their doctors, prescriptions, and budget.
While she is based in Oquawka, she is committed to making assistance accessible. She can meet people at their Monmouth or Stronghurst locations, and is willing to travel to surrounding counties such as McDonough. For the client’s convenience, Hannah can meet people in libraries or local health departments to ensure they can get help close to home.
Hannah feels fortunate to have the support of her coworker Nancy Kucharz, who has extensive experience with the insurance marketplace and Medicaid. Nancy previously worked in this role full-time and now contributes part-time during the busy season, bringing her deep knowledge to assist both clients and staff. As a new Navigator, Hannah often leans on Nancy for guidance with challenging cases. Her expertise and willingness to mentor make a meaningful difference in helping people navigate the sometimes complex world of health coverage.
Most importantly, Hannah’s assistance comes at no cost to the client. She serves as a guide and advocate, helping people avoid confusion and get the coverage they need to protect their health and finances.
Over the past few years, there have been a number of changes to how people enroll in health coverage and access benefits. One major shift in Illinois was the transition from the federal marketplace to the state-based platform, Get Covered Illinois. This change has allowed the state to better tailor the enrollment process, outreach efforts, and available resources to meet the needs of Illinois residents.
Along with that transition, there have also been ongoing updates to eligibility guidelines, fi nancial assistance, and program requirements for both marketplace plans and Medicaid. As these laws and policies continue to evolve, it’s natural for questions to come up and for people to feel unsure about what applies to their situation.
That’s where Hannah comes in. Her goal is to stay informed on these changes and help individuals and families understand what they mean in a simple, practical way. Whether someone is enrolling for the first time, renewing their coverage, or just exploring their options, she is there to provide clear guidance and support every step of the way.
In addition to helping with health coverage, Hannah also serves as a community health worker. That means she supports individuals beyond just insurance, helping connect them to a wide range of local resources such as food assistance, housing support, transportation, and other community services. She is fortunate to work alongside coworker Sabrina Wilson, who is also a community health worker. They rely on each other’s local knowledge to ensure clients get the most accurate and helpful guidance.
Hannah states that it has been a great experience connecting with residents of McDonough County and educating people about Get Covered Illinois. She’s had the opportunity to answer many questions and help individuals better understand their coverage options.
She also participated in the winter Macomb market, which allowed her to continue building relationships and providing assistance even outside of the traditional market season.
Hannah can be reached Monday through Friday at 309-924-2414 ext. 234 or option #4 and [email protected]
