Bluegrass Duo Performs at Hickory Ridge in Ellisville

Bluegrass Duo Performs at Hickory Ridge in Ellisville

Hickory Ridge Concerts welcomes country/bluegrass duo Low Gap to the stage this Saturday, April the 18th at 7 p.m. at the historic Ellisville Opera House in Ellisville.

Brothers Gus and Phin Johnson are two young musicians who are making an impact with their authentic writing and catchy tunes.

They hail from eastern Kentucky and carry the torch and traditions of Appalachia in their playing.

Gus and Phin grew up listening to Bluegrass and Americana music. That— combined with Folk, Country, and Classic and Southern Rock—creates the unique tone that has become the duo’s signature sound. The brothers always had an affinity for music and storytelling and the duo was exposed to music at a young age. Said Gus, “Our grandfather… and that side of the family, always had a lot of bluegrass players; he played guitar. A lot of his siblings played instruments, so that whole side of the family was really musical.”

As for other influences, Phin points to many prominent artists in the alt country scene as sources of inspiration for Low Gap.
