Two dozen high school track and field teams descended on Hanson Field on the Western Illinois University campus Friday afternoon for the annual Lee Calhoun H.S. Invitational.
The girls division saw Macomb finish second overall, scoring 88 points, trailing only Rock Island High, who grabbed top team honors with 163.25 points.
Bushnell-Prairie City finished in a tie for
13th place with 17 points, while West Prairie finished in a three-way tie for 18th with three points.
Macomb’s Jordan Hines won the 200meter dash with a time of 26.27 seconds. She also finished second in the 100 with a time of 12.49 seconds.
Clair Thompson won the high jump for MHS with an effort of 1.50-meters (4-feet,
11-inches).
Other second place finishers for the Bombers included Dakota Thorman in the discus with a toss of 34.73m (113-11) and Ava Huston in the triple jump (9.92m,
32-6.50).
The MHS 4x200 meter relay quartet of Nakara Byrth, Thompson, Aubrey Holthaus and Hines also finished second in a time of
1:51.37.
B-PC’s Marryn Ferguson finished second in the pole vault (2.88m, 9-5.25).
