B-PC Baseball Drops Pair Of Road Contests

The Bushnell-Prairie City High School baseball team took to the road for a pair of contests over the weekend, suffering a pair of losses.

On Friday, the Spartans headed to Hamilton for a non-conference contest against West Hancock.

After B-PC scored twice in its first at-bat, West Hancock took control as it scored the game’s final 15 runs in posting the 15-2, five-inning victory.

The Titans scored five runs in the first, seven in the second and three more in the third. West Hancock out-hit B-PC 9-2, committing two errors.

The Spartans finished with four errors.

Connor Palm and Dylan King had hits for B-PC. King doubled, knocking in a run and scoring one, while Thomas Anderson also scored a run for the Spartans.

B-PC used three pitchers. Ethan Hyde allowed 12 runs, six earned, on seven hits in 1.2 innings. He struck out three and walked four.

King pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out three, walking one and hitting a batter.

Braxton Kempf pitched one inning, allowing three earned runs on two hits. He struck out one and walked three.

Brayden Carter had three hits, including a double and a triple for West Hancock (7-5). He scored three runs and knocked in two.

Adam Pena had three runs batted in for the Titans, while Layton Conkright and Keagan Todd added two RBIs each.

Juris Pohren also scored three runs for West Hancock.

Conkright pitched four innings, allowing two runs, zero earned, on two hits. He struck out three and walked three.

Tucker Stevens pitched a scoreless fifth inning, striking out two and walking one.

On Saturday, the Spartans returned to Prairieland Conference play, heading to Brimfield to face Brimfield/ Elmwood.

The host Indians scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back in posting a 13-1 win in five innings.

B-PC slipped to 0-11 on the season, 0-3 in Prairieland contests.

Brimfield/Elmwood improved to 8-1 overall, 1-0 in league play.

The Indians added two runs in the second and four more in the third, finishing the game with 12 hits.

B-PC tallied its lone run in the fifth inning, finishing with three hits.

Both teams committed two errors.

Palm, King and Ryan Adler each had hits for B-PC with King knocking in Adler for the Spartans run in the fifth.

Alex Kohler pitched onethind of an inning, allowing seven earned runs on four hits with three walks.

Palm pitched 1.2 innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits. He struck out two, walked two and hit a batter.

King pitched two innings, allowing one earned run on four hits. He struck out three and walked one.

Dane Fagerburg and Quinton Johns each had two hits and two runs batted in for Brimfield/Elmwood, while Blake Bruner and Dean Dunnaway also knocked in two runs each for the Indians.

Brimfield/Elmwood used four pitchers.

Noah Malone struck out five in two innings, walking two and allowing one hit.

Johns pitched a scoreless inning before Kai Nelson struck out the side in his one inning of work.

Griffin Hougham allowed one unearned run on two hits in his one inning. He struck out three.

The Spartans were slated to return to Prairieland competition Monday heading to Havana (6-3, 2-0 Prairieland).

On Tuesday, B-PC is scheduled to head to Toulon to face Stark County (0-11) in a non-conference contest.
