Bombers, Spartans And Cyclones Take Part In Lee Calhoun Invite

Two dozen high school track and field teams descended on Hanson Field on the Western Illinois University campus Friday afternoon for the annual Lee Calhoun H.S. Invitational.

In the boys division, Macomb High tied for fifth place with PORTA/A-C Central, scoring 58 points.

Pittsfield recorded 96 points in capturing the team title.

Bushnell-Prairie City finished in a tie for 14th with 15 points, while West Prairie was 17th, scoring six points.

Macomb had two individual event winners.

Alex Simmons captured the 3200-meter run in a personal best time of 10 minutes, 26.86 seconds. He was also third in the 1600 with a time of 4:44.48, another personal best.

Meanwhile, Charlie Bodiford won the shot put with a toss of 14.89-meters (48feet, 10.25-inches). He also finished second in the discus with a new personal best effort of 42.69m (140-0).

For B-PC, Jonavan Harrell won the 300 low hurdles with a time of 43.75.

Other results for Macomb, B-PC and West Prairie included the following: 4x800 relay - MHS (Jakob Dawdy, Xander Merritt, Eymen Tasdan and Jackson Petitgout), sixth, 9:19.45 and West Prairie (Ayden Lacey, Milo Rodeffer, Mason Sorrells and Ezra Bithos), seventh, 9:37.33.

4x100 - MHS (Carter Havens, Marshaun Brown, Drake May and James Liebsack), 10th, 48.03; West Prairie (Collin Cerven, West Markham, Ian Fentem and Michael Lynn), 13th, 52.24 and B-PC (Keegan Gillette, Landon Lear, Domenic Faught and Charles Rudolph), 14th, 56.20.

3200 - Cohen Hunt-Twomey, MHS, 11th, 12:29.13 and Owen Haley, MHS, 12th, 12:36.55.

110 hurdles - Siddhartha Singh, MHS, 14th, 20.99.
