On Wednesday, Macomb Mayor Michael Inman proclaimed April 8 as Macomb Beautiful Day with a short presentation in Chandler Park.
Eleven members of the Macomb Beautiful Association (MBA) were present for the event: Lana Stocker, Annette Hamm, Cindy Amundsen, Barb Knox, Dave Pumo, JoAnne Hairston-Jones, Brenda Sayre, Sharon Lindahl, Lorri Chaplin, Lisa Morrow and Bob Smith.
The first MBA group activity of the year, the Annual Clean-Up Day, is quickly approaching on Saturday, April 11 from 9-11 a.m.
MBA members and volunteers will prepare the gardens at Chandler Park, the Carper Amtrak Train Station, Phelps Memorial, various flower beds and pots in the downtown Macomb area for planting hundreds of flowers.
Volunteers from Macomb FFA, MHS Ecology Club, Scotland Clovers 4-H Club and WIU Accounting students are helping to weed, rake and mulch.
The Macomb Beautiful Association has volunteered to make Macomb more beautiful for over 50 years.
