Bomber Softball Grounded By Indians And Saukees

The new week got off to a rough start for the Macomb High softball team.

It started Monday with a 6-0 Prairieland Conference loss to host LVC at Lewistown.

LVC pitcher Emma Probyn twirled a no-hitter, striking out 14, while walking five.

She threw 126 pitches, 75 for strikes. Probyn also helped herself at the plate, recording three hits, including a double, knocking in three runs.

Addison Roddis doubled with one run scored and one batted in, while Cooper McLaren added a double with two RBIs.

Emily Thrasher doubled, scoring twice for LVC (5-4, 2-1 Prairieland).

The Miners tallied single runs in the first and fourth innings, while also scoring twice in the third and sixth innings.

MHS committed three errors that led to three unearned runs.

Kinley Sloan pitched six innings, striking out seven. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits, walking six.

She threw 138 pitches, 77 for strikes. The Bombers returned to the home field Tuesday, but ran into a buzzsaw as visiting Pittsfield rolled to a 16-0 win in three innings.

The Saukees (8-2) scored five runs in the first before adding six runs in the second and five more in the third.

Pittsfield had 10 hits, while Macomb struggled defensively, committing seven errors that led to eight unearned runs.

The Bomber offense was as chilly as the weather as MHS was no-hit for the second straight game.

Sloan pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 13 runs, eight earned, on nine hits. She struck out two, walked four and hit a batter.

Sloan threw 92 pitches, 51 for strikes. Autumn Starbuck recorded the final two outs in the third, allowing three runs, zero earned on one hit with three walks.

Starbuck threw 31 pitches, 15 for strikes. Emma Wombles struck out eight of the nine batters she faced in notching the victory.

She needed just 39 pitches, 30 of which were strikes.

Tinley Ruzich homered on the second pitch of the game to set the tone for the visitors.

Paige Willman had two hits with two runs scored and two batted in, while Daytlynn McCallister also had a hit with two runs scored and two batted in.

Macomb High (2-5) is scheduled to return to action Saturday, heading to Petersburg for games against PORTA/A-C Central (5-4) and Quincy High (2-7).
