Bombers Blanked By Tigers In Girls Soccer Action

The Macomb High girls soccer team returned to action Monday afternoon, dropping a 1-0 contest to host Beardstown.

The Tiger improved to 4-2-1 on the season, while MHS slipped to 1-3-2.

Beardstown scored in the second half. The Bombers recorded six shots, two by Elanah McFadden. Sophie Wilson, Sophie Hansen, Taylor Baldi and Taylor Mann attempted one shot apiece.

Kate Rector recorded three corner kicks. MHS keeper Natasha Lin recorded 12 saves.

Christagie Zambele tallied the lone goal of the match for the Tigers with Nancy Guerrero credited with the assist.

A JV match was held following the varsity contest with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Reva Koeppen scored for the Bombers. Odeleisis Sierra scored for the Tigers with Cami J. Coats notching the assist.

The Bombers are scheduled to return to action Thursday, heading to Ingersoll Middle School field in Canton to face the host Little Giants (4-3-2).

It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams.

They opened their respective seasons on Mar. 18 in East Peoria at the 11th Annual Lady Raider Soccer Classic hosted by East Peoria High School at the Eastside Centre, settling for a 1-1 draw.

Rector scored Macomb’s goal on a cross from Taylor Mann.

Lin recorded 20 saves. Canton lost to Beardstown 2-0 at home on Mar. 24 with the Tigers scoring one goal in each half.

Following Thursday’s match, the Bombers will head to Jacksonville on Apr. 13 to face the Crimsons (3-4-0).
