The Macomb Park Board voted last month to adopt an annual budget for 2026. Park Director Blake Severs developed the budget with the assistance of Business Manager Chris Frankhauser.
'I think it's a good budget,' Severs told the board.
Board Treasurer Phil Weiss said the district's consolidated project fund totaled $578,755 and the general fund totaled $254,810. He said the district received $103,352 in state solar credits because of its use of solar panels on three properties.
Policy and Operations
The park board voted to adopt an electronic communication policy. This allows commissioners to use personal devices to access park district information.
Seasonal Opening and Programs Severs told the board that all parks opened for the season on April 1. He said the Prairie Easter Egg Hunt was held at Lakeview Nature Center, and an egg hunt was held April 4 for those 18 and older.
Members of the McDonough County Special Recreation Association have begun track and field practice for the Illinois Special Olympics.
Nature activities are being offered on the first Friday of every month at Lakeview.
Update on Staffing and Community Events
Severs announced that Support Services Superintendent Stephen Druse would be leaving the district in May.
He said there were 200 participants and 25 vendors involved in the recent job fair, Jobapalooza.
