Ronald Dale Munger

73, of Macomb

Ronald Dale Munger, age 73, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away on April 1, 2026, at Havana Hospital.

He was born on November 1, 1952, in Macomb, Illinois, to Paul and Mary Munger (CaCa).

Ronald is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Lynn Munger (Craig) of Cuba, Illinois; Angela Jean Mayhew of Dunfermline, Illinois; and Heaven Leah Rachel Munger of The Dalles, Oregon; one daughter-in-law, Mika Munger of Enterprise, Alabama; and six grandchildren: Kelsey Marie Munger, Nicholas Eugene Mayhew, Charles Quincy Mayhew, Madilyn Grace Munger, Sadie Patricia Munger, and Coral Jean Munger.

He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret Jean Kelly; Betty (Jerry) Ulrich; Donald (Lona) Munger; and Joyce (Terry) Hollenberg, along with several nieces and nephews. Ronald shared a special bond with David Briggs, who was like a son to him and a loyal, lifelong friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Howard Richard Munger; and his sons, Gary Matthew Munger and Daniel Lee Munger.

Ronald attended Plymouth High School, graduating in 1971. He later studied diesel mechanics at Spoon River College, where he earned his associate degree. He worked at Freeman United Coal Mine for many years before retiring.

He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the United Mine Workers Association. Ronald was especially proud of his son Daniel’s service in the United States Army.

Ronald was known for being friendly and social, and he seemed to know someone everywhere he went. He lived life on his own terms, enjoying simple pleasures—sharing stories over a cold beer, spending time outdoors, and working in his garden. He had a fondness for cats, a love of hunting and fishing, and took pride in cooking for those he cared about.

Above all, Ronald will be remembered as kind, gentle, and generous, leaving behind a lifetime of memories with those who knew and loved him.

Services were held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Clugston- Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb, with Rev. Jim Clayton officiating. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery near Colmar.

At Ron’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Macomb VFW in lieu of flowers. You may leave condolences and sign the guest book online at clugston-tibbitts.com.
