MHS Track Teams Take Part In 75th Annual QSHS Invite

The Macomb High School track and field squads headed to Quincy Friday to take part in the 75th annual Quincy Senior High School Track and Field Invitational at Flinn Stadium.

In the girls division, Macomb High finished third out of eight teams with a score of 110 points.

Quincy High and North Point (Wentzville, Mo.) tied for the top spot with 167 points.

Following the Bombers in the team standings were Camp Point Central (92), Rushville-Industry (58), Liberty (32), Illini West (11) and Mendon Unity (4).

The Bombers brought home four first place finishes.

On the track, senior Jordan Hines won the 200meter dash in a season best time of 26.19 seconds.

MHS athletes also won top honors in three field events.

Senior Dakota Thorman was the winner in the discus with a career-best toss of

35.13-meters (115-feet,

3-inches). Sophomore Clair Thompson won the high jump with a personal best

1.57m (5-1.75) and senior Lucy Platt won the pole vault with a season best 2.44m

(8-0).

In the boys division, MHS placed fifth out of eight teams with 85 points.

North Point won the team title with 179.5 points. Quincy High was next with 136.5 points, followed by Camp Point Central

(124), Illini West (94) and Macomb.

Following the Bombers in the team standings were Rushville-Industry (32.5), Mendon Unity (15.5) and Liberty (13).

Junior Charlie Bodiford won two events for MHS, capturing top honors in the shot put (15.01m; 49-3) and discus (42.65m; 139-11). His throw in the discus was a personal best In addition, junior Alex Simmons won the 3200 meter run with a personal best time of 10:30.93.
