Too Much Hate? - Look in the Mirror!

Letter to the Editor:

First off, thanks to George R. Coutré for beating me to the punch responding to Richard Chamberlain’s biased view on political hatred. What George said is obvious to anyone who pays attention to both sides of political discussion. One could easily fill two dozen or more 500-word editorials with nothing but hateful and incendiary comments flowing from the left. Second, let me be clear that the poll worker in question was, unquestionably, removed for good reason.

What bothered me most about the editorial by Mr. Chamberlain was that it epitomized how liberals operate. He suggests that the incident with the poll worker is some momentous watershed moment in the history of our community, which up until this time was a blissful haven of tempered political discussion; even one his sister was envious of (whatever that means)! Now, the scourge of hate has taken over!

All of this is a result of what Mr. Chamberlain characterized, and I quote his editorial, as “a local election judge feeling justified wanting the death of a citizen... because he is voting his conscience.” Now I ask everyone, do you truly, truly, in your heart-of-hearts, believe that this woman wanted the death of this man? Of course not! Yet, Mr. Chamberlain believes this must be so since she is obviously a Republican, and therefore devoid of any kind of morality or the ability to think for herself; she must’ve become this way because of President Trump! Since the orange man is evil, it follows that all Republicans must also be evil.

The poll worker in question was quoted in a recent CNB article as saying “I am ashamed of what I said. Please accept my apology. I can’t stop crying for what I said, and have been praying to the Father for his forgiveness.” Does this sound like a person who deserves to be characterized as “wanting the death of a citizen”? Mr. Chamberlain has, like pretty much all liberals, shown his own penchant for hate by taking this incident and applying hyperbole and demonization in an effort to turn this into something it’s not. Would he have done the same if a Republican was the recipient of the comment from the poll worker? I think we all could make an accurate guess to that question.

Perhaps Mr. Chamberlain should follow his own fatherly advice (which we’re all so blessed to have) and “do better.”
