Second Half Burst Propels Chargers Past Bombers 5-1

Visiting Peoria Christian tallied four goals in the second half on the way to notching a 5-1 victory over host Macomb in high school girls soccer action Monday afternoon at MHS Stadium.

Freshman Taylor Mann scored in the opening half for the Bombers as the match was level 1-1 at the break.

But the visitors, playing their season opener, dominated the final 40 minutes, scoring four goals in securing the victory.

Mann and sophomore Reva Koeppen both had two shots for Macomb, while sophomore Elenah McFadden also had one shot.

Junior Natasha Lin played 65 minutes in goal, recording 13 saves, allowing two scores.

Sophomore Lucy Buchanan entered for 15 minutes, recording three saves and allowing three goals.

Freshman Addy Lovell scored two goals and had an assist for Peoria Christian, while junior Violet Hynek also scored twice for the Chargers.

Sophomore Kassidy Andersonadded a goal and an assist, while sophomores Emma Crone and Isabella Merdian als recorded one assist each for the Chargers.

Macomb is now 1-2-2 on the season.

The Bombers are scheduled to play their next four matches on the road, starting with Thursday's match at Galesburg (4-1-0).

On Monday, the team is scheduled to play at Beardstown (2-1-1).
