ROBIN’S
Hello Friends – School is almost out – the Seniors have left the building and summer is lurking around the corner. I have always thought that summer was a chance for us to relax and reboot, to get ourselves ready to start back in in the Fall. I worked at WIU for 30 years and although the new year starts in January, I always thought that Fall was the beginning of the new year. We have the summer to be lazy and more laid back. A chance to catch our breath and reorganize and start the new school year on a fresh clean page. I know the year “technically” starts over in January, but to be honest after the holidays you still have to finish out the year strong and there isn’t much time to do that, we are just catching our breath at that point to run the rest of the school calendar to the end of year. Now I know that folks want to take elaborate vacations, and some are pressured to do just that. Why not take the summer to just power down a bit, breath a little deeper and do some self-help with ourselves. Sure, take an extended weekend for a quick “vacation”. It doesn’t have to be so involved and cost so much. A staycation at home or close to it can be just as fun and beneficial to everyone. Take those pictures – get everyone in at least one shot. Suntans, dirty faces and all – I guarantee the happiness will show twice as bright in those pictures than the staged ones and will bring back the memories where you will smile all day just thinking about them. And those pictures need to be of everyone you are with – not just those folks with young kids around, but with your friends and partners. Just remember to take the pictures, it’s important.
