DAR March Meeting

GENERAL MACOMB DAR CHAPTER MEETING RECAP The General Macomb DAR Chapter met Sunday, March 8, at the Assembly of God Church with eight members and four young adults and their parents in attendance.

Regent Eileen Worthington called the meeting to order and delivered a Revolutionary moment marking the date of March 8, 1776. Maicyn Shipman, the Citizenship and Service winner, led the Pledge of Allegiance. Paula Gruel recited the Creed, and Sharon Caldwell read the Preamble. Jennifer Fletcher offered the prayer.

Upcoming Events

The DAR State Conference will be held April 23-26 in Bloomington, Illinois. Luke Murry, the state winner from Trinity in Industry, will be honored at the Saturday luncheon.

The Spoon River Chapter NSDAR will hold a grave marking for Catharine Wolcott Sornborger on April 18 at 10 a.m. in Victoria Cemetery in Victoria, Illinois. The chapter is considering whether to mark the grave of Sarah Small (1769-1845), wife of Revolutionary War soldier and patriot Thomas White, who is buried in White Cemetery.

The Memory Garden dedication is scheduled for June 27 at 2 p.m. Volunteers are needed for a window display at Pumo Insurance.

The Hodar event will be held July 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Macomb Museum, with pizza served. A museum tour will follow at 6:30 p.m. More details will be announced.

Next Meeting

The chapter will meet April 7 at 1 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the church. Lori Boyer will speak about the history of Blandinsville. The meeting will also celebrate the General Macomb DAR Chapter's birthday, honoring its first meeting held April 11, 1910.

Jennifer Fletcher and Sherry Meriwether served as hostesses for the March meeting.
