63, of Bushnell
Dale Alan “Moby” Teel, 63, of Bushnell, Illinois, passed away at 11:53 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on January 5, 1963, in Macomb, Illinois, to Carl E. and Mary M. (Wilson) Teel.
Dale is survived by his sister, Carol Jean (Gerald) Schmidt of Bushnell, IL; sister-in-law, Janice Teel of Bushnell, IL; five nieces and nephews, Todd (Sandra) Teel of Bushnell, IL, Troy (Christie) Teel of Peoria, IL, Sheri Schmidt of Burlington, IA, Trisha (Eric) Schaubroeck of Bartonville, IL, and Tyler (Sharol) Schmidt of Bushnell, IL; aunt, Betty Wilson of Bushnell, IL; uncle, Richard Fugate of Atlanta, IL; aunt, Patricia Mayo of Plymouth, IL; along with 13 great-nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew, several cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Teel.
Dale was a 1981 graduate of Bushnell-Prairie City High School and went on to attend Western Illinois University. He spent much of his working life in hospitality and management, most notably at Delaney’s, the Silver Fox, and as manager of the Bushnell VFW Post 1422, where he formed many lasting friendships and became a familiar and welcoming presence in the community.
Dale enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved traveling, whether by plane, train, boat, or automobile, and enjoyed trying his luck at the casino, what he often called “the bank.” He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and a devoted supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed creating stained glass pieces, a craft that reflected both his patience and creativity, always done at his own pace, and as Dale would remind you, there was no reason to rush perfection.
Dale will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his sense of humor, and the way he connected with people wherever he went. He gave the best hugs, was a loyal friend, and felt truly blessed by his family, his work family, and the many friendships he cherished throughout his life.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Bushnell VFW Post 1422. Private burial of ashes will be held at Industry Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bushnell VFW Post 1422 or OSF Hospice. Please sign the guestbook and leave condolences at www.martinhollisfh.com.
