What is MARS Racing?

MARS, or Midwest Auto Racing Series, recently posted the following about John Dimmitt: 'John Dimmitt, Macomb, Illinois, is gearing up for GoSunaco Rookies of the Year run on the MARS tour in 2026.

After returning to the driver's seat in 2025, Dimmitt has hit many of the regions' best tracks, logging laps in preparation for the tour. He has four career MARS modified starts.

The MARS Modified Championship is a dirt track racing series powered by Summit Racing Equipment. It's part of the Midwest Auto Racing Series, which features modified and later model cars competing on various tracks in the Midwest.

It typically runs from April to September, with around 20 events scheduled throughout the season. Each event offers a significant purse, with some events paying up to $5,000 to win and standard payments of $2,000 to win and $250 to start on certain nights. The series features talented drivers competing in modified cars, with a focus on promoting modified racing in the Midwest and providing a platform for drivers to showcase their skills.

Events are held at prominent tracks like Tri-City Speedway and Granite City, Illinois and Farmer City Raceway.
