Cyclones Fall To Indians In Prairieland Play

The West Prairie/Southeastern High School softball team returned to Prairieland Conference play Thursday, dropping a 14-2, five-inning decision to host Brimfield/Elmwood at Brimfield.

The Indians scored all four innings they batted, starting with three runs in the bottom of the first.

Brimfield/Elmwood added five runs in the second, followed by three runs in the third and three more in the fourth.

WP/SE scored twice in the fourth on a two-run home run by Tegan Rigg that also scored Ella Tippey, who had singled.

The Indians out-hit the Cyclones 12-3 with WP/SE committing two errors, compared to one for Brimfield/ Elmwood.

Arianna Soule also had a hit for WP/SE.

In the circle, Soule pitched four innings. She allowed 14 runs, 13 earned, on 12 hits. Soule struck out two, walked four and hit three batters.

Sawyer Drury doubled twice, scoring twice, while also knocking in three runs for Brimfield/Elmwood.

Schyer Meinders had two hits, including a double, with two runs batted in for the Indians.

Drury was the winning pitcher, striking out 11 in five innings. She allowed two runs on three hits.

The Cyclones (0-3, 0-2 Prairieland) are slated to return to action Tuesday, hosting Illini West (0-6) in a Prairieland Conference contest at Colchester,
