The Bushnell-Prairie City High School baseball team dropped a road contest at Orion before hosting a pair of games as part of the Route 41 series on Saturday.
On Thursday, the Spartans were defeated by the host Chargers 16-1 in four innings.
B-PC scored in the top of the first inning and led until Orion scored twice in the bottom of the second in taking a 2-1 lead.
The Chargers broke the game open in the following inning, scoring 13 runs. Orion scored its final run in the bottom of the fourth to close out the game by the 15-run rule.
Orion out-hit B-PC 9-2 with both teams committing two errors.
Alex Kohler and Landon Ferguson each had hits for B-PC with Thomas Anderson scoring the lone run for the Spartans.
Miles Strode was the pitcher of record for the Spartans.
In 2.1 innings, Strode allowed eight runs, seven earned, on six hits. He struck out one, walked three and hit a batter.
Braxton Kempf allowed seven runs, six earned, on three hits. He walked three and hit a batter.
Ethan Hyde pitched two-thirds of an inning, recording two strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter.
Jadyn Robinson recorded one out, allowing one run, striking out four and walking one.
Deyne Franks doubled, homered and added two runs batted in for Orion (2-3). He also scored four runs. Mason Lakemon had three hits, including a double and home run, scoring three times while also knocking in two runs for the Chargers.
Max Larson doubled and knocked in three runs, while also scoring three runs. Joe Norton also homered, knocking in three runs. Kyler Queens added two RBIs for the victors.
Griffin Tennent pitched four innings for Orion in picking up the victory.
He allowed one unearned run on two hits. Tennent struck out four, walked one and hit two batters.
The Spartans returned to home field Saturday, hosting the Route 41 Series.
B-PC started its day, hosting the Triopia/ Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia co-op with the visiting Trojans recording an 8-4 victory.
The visitors put together two-run rallies in four separate innings, scoring in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings.
B-PC trailed 6-0 before scoring three times in the bottom of the fifth. The Spartans scored once in the seventh, but were unable to complete the comeback.
TMCV out-hit B-PC 10-4 with the Trojans committing three errors, compared to one for the Spartans.
Anderson doubled and knocked in a run for B-PC. Connor Palm had two hits with a run batted in, while also scoring twice.
Ryan Adler added a hit and a run scored, while Hyde also scored a run for B-PC.
Palm pitched 3.1 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits. He struck out seven, walked one and hit a batter.
Kohler pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, striking out six.
Hyde pitched the final 1.1 innings, recording one strikeout.
Grant Fricke hit for the cycle for TMCV (1-5). He knocked in five runs, while also scoring three times.
Will Burton added two doubles, scoring twice, while Cooper Parrish tripled, knocking in a run.
Sam Millerchipped in two hits with a run scored and one batted in for the visitors.
Parrish was the winning pitcher for the Trojans. He threw 5.2 innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits. Parrish struck out 12 and walked four.
Miller pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, striking out three.
B-PC faced Illini Bluffs for its second game of the day with the visiting Tigers rallying for a 10-8 victory over the Spartans in eight innings.
B-PC slipped to 0-5 on the season, while Illini Bluffs improved to 2-0.
The Tigers led 4-2 until the bottom of fourth when the Spartans scored five times in taking a 7-4 lead.
After both teams tallied single runs in the fifth, Illini Bluffs scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to force extra innings.
The Tigers scored twice in the eighth and retired the Spartans in the bottom of the inning to escape with the win.
IB out-hit B-PC 8-7 with both teams committing five errors.
Dylan King had three hits, including a double, with two runs batted in and one scored for B-PC.
Palm added two hits, including a double. He scored twice and knocked in a run.
Anderson had a hit and scored a run, along with one RBI, while Kohler scored twice.
Adler knocked in a run and scored a run, while Robinson also knocked in a run. Eli Ferguson chipped in one hit.
Anderson pitched five innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits. He struck out four, walked two and hit a batter.
King was the pitcher of record, allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits in three innings. He struck out two, walked five and hit a batter.
Brayden Fargher had four hits and two RBIs for Illini Bluffs. Jacob Dunn and Justice Dugger each scored twice for the Tigers.
Dugger pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. He allowed two hits and one walk, striking out three.
Dunn pitched a scoreless eighth to notch the save.
Friday’s game against Delavan was canceled due to wet field conditions following rains late Thursday night into early Friday morning.
The Spartans return to action Monday, playing at Sherrard (1-4) before hosting LVC (5-1, 0-0) in a Prairieland Conference contest on Tuesday.
