Lois Imogene (Ambrosius) Daniels

99 of Macomb

Lois Imogene (Ambrosius) Daniels, 99, passed away on May 17th, 2025, in Macomb, Illinois. Born on December 12, 1925, in Rushville, Illinois, to Henry and Bessie Ambrosius, she married Vernon Forman of Rushville in August 1943. They welcomed four sons; Charles (Nancy) North Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Jim (Barbara) Columbus Indiana, Don, Madisonville Kentucky and Randy (Debbie) Macomb Illinois. Vernon died as a result of a car accident October 4, 1959. Imogene married Myrlen Daniels of Industry three years later on April 6, 1962. She and Myrlen celebrated 58 years of marriage in 2020. Myrlen preceded her in death on July 31, 2020. Her parents and brother Harold Ambrosius also preceded her in passing.

Imogene attended grade school and high school in Littleton, Illinois. She was a woman of remarkable strength and determination, walking to school and helping her parents on the farm. Widowed in her early 30s with four young sons to raise, she worked tirelessly—often holding two jobs during the week and a third on weekends—to provide for her family. Though she received support from loved ones, she was resolute in her determination to succeed on her own. That perseverance remained a defining trait throughout her life.

Above all else, Imogene found joy in raising her four sons and welcomed her growing family of 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She cherished time spent with them and created traditions that became treasured memories. One of their favorites was “cookie day,” held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. She would pre-bake dozens of sugar cookies, and her sons and grandchildren would gather to decorate them together—a simple yet meaningful tradition that embodied the warmth and love she shared with her family. For many years Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays were also celebrated at Myrlen and Imogene’s home west of Industry In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Imogene was a working partner alongside Myrlen on their farm in Industry IL. Together, they farmed several acres of land and raised Haflinger horses often harnessing them to a wagon for parades or family rides through the countryside. At one time they had nearly 20 of these amazing animals on their farm. She also served as Post Mistress at the Industry Post Office for nearly 20 years, where she delighted in writing Christmas stories and sending them to children who had sent letters to Santa.

Her entrepreneurial spirit led her and Myrlen to own and operate the Double D Corral Restaurant in Industry for several years. She and Myrlen were also active members of the Doddsville Methodist Church, where they provided encouragement to friends and family in times of need. They regularly volunteered to help with soup suppers and ice cream socials to raise money for the Church.

A creative soul, Imogene loved writing poetry, painting, making ceramics, and quilting. These artistic pursuits brought her great joy and allowed her to share her talents with those around her.

Imogene’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, faith, and generosity. She touched many lives through her kindness and unwavering spirit. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
