The West Prairie/ Southeastern High School baseball team tallied runs in five different innings on the way to recording a 12-5 non-conference win over West Central at Stronghurst Friday afternoon.
WP/SE improved to 2-1-1 on the season, while West Central slipped to 2-3.
The Cyclones scored once in the top of the first before West Central answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.
The visiting Cyclones scored the game’s next eight runs in grabbing a lasting lead.
WP/SE scored twice in the second before adding two runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth in building a 9-2 advantage.
After the Heat scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth, both teams scored in the seventh. The Cyclones scored three runs before the Heat scored twice in their final at-bat.
WP/SE out-hit West Central 10-4 with the Cyclones also committing five errors.
Braden Coplan had two hits and scored twice, knocking in three runs.
Austin Nelson doubled and knocked in two runs, while Matt Whitman scored four runs for the Cyclones.
Eli DeCounter and Case Marlow had doubles for WP/SE with DeCounter and Ivan Beck batting in one run each. Beck also scored twice.
Marlow pitched six innings in picking up the victory. He allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits. Marlow struck out 10 and hit one batter.
Kash Lantz pitched twothirds of an inning, allowing two earned runs, walking five.
Holden Coplan recorded the final out with a strikeout. He also walked one.
Aiden Todd had two hits, while Cooper Gibb knocked in a run for West Central.
Jeremy Ford and Colton Spence each scored twice.
Spence was the pitcher of record for West Central.
In seven innings, he allowed 12 runs, 10 earned, on 10 hits. Spence struckout 12, walked 11 and hit three batters.
Saturday’s scheduled games against Brown County and Canton were canceled due to wet field conditions following Thursday night rains.
The Cyclones were slated to return to action Monday heading to Abingdon to face Abingdon-Avon (5-1).
