
In advance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which begins April 1, a Sexual Assault Awareness panel discussion will be held beginning at 7 p.m., Monday, March 30 on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus.
The event, which will be held in the Multicultural Center Multipurpose Room, is co-hosted by Chingonx Afrocentric Queers (CAQ), Casa Latina, Women's Center and Sigma Lambda Gamma. Panelists include staff from Western Illinois Regional Council Community Action Agency-Victim Services, the Office of Public Safety and WIU's Office of Equal Opportunity and Access.
Topics covered include consent, bystander intervention and available support systems for survivors, along with live demonstrations of personal safety strategies. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The event is open free to the WIU and Macomb-area communities.
