A $30,373 bid from Pella to upgrade the windows at Macomb City Hall was discussed Monday at the City Council’s Committee of the Whole meeting. Twenty-four window sashes would be replaced, and weather stripping and caulking would be done as needed.
“Technology does not justify completely replacing any windows,” said City Administrator Scott Coker.
Maggie Griffiths of Spring Lake Park Management provided updates at the park, including a decrease in some fees. The electricity fee for some campsites will be $25 (five dollars less), along with a five dollar decrease in the kayak rental fee, from $15/hour to $10/hour. Griffiths also shared there will be more games and activities for children and families, such as bass fishing and cross country races. Agrant has been received to build 12 new boat docks and an accessible kayak launch, as well as to make improvements to the bait shop.
Aldermen also discussed an ordinance to create a special event liquor license for Macomb Heritage Days on June 25-27. Jock Hedblade, director of the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, said space is limited in the beer garden, and he added all entertainment has been booked for the summer festival.
