Approximately 200 job-seekers from 19 communities across eight counties attended the fourth annual McDonough County Jobapalooza Tuesday (March 24) at the Spoon River College Community Outreach Center.
The countywide job fair, hosted by the McDonough County Quality of Life Committee (CQLC), had 28 area employers taking part in this year's event, according to Macomb Area Economic Development Corp. President and CEO Kim Pierce, who serves as the QCLC Jobapalooza committee chair. This year's number of individuals looking for fulland part-time and seasonal work was nearly double from last year, she added.
'This event is a great way to bring local employers with open positions in front of a large group of potential employees all in one place. We have a variety of jobs in a wide range of fields available throughout the county ,' Pierce noted.
Prospective employers included McDonough County retailers, nonprofits, government, finance, medical and health and manufacturing. The event was sponsored by the McDonough County Quality of Life Committee, which is comprised of several community organizations including the Community News Brief, the City of Macomb, the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, Macomb Area Economic Development Corp., Macomb Park District, Spoon River College, Western Illinois Regional Council, Western Illinois University and Workforce Innovation Board of Western Illinois.
