Phil Marshall Ag in the Classroom Fund Endowment Distribution

The McDonough County Community Foundation (MCCF) presented a check to the Macomb School District Agriculture programs for $1,108.89. The fund managed by MCCF was originally endowed by Genie Marshall in 2024.

Phil Marshall, who farmed several acres East of Macomb for over 40 years and passed away in 2010, was always supportive of youth education. Kaity Bowman, High School Ag Teacher said, “We are so grateful for this donation and plan to use it to purchase Career Development Event (CDE) study materials! This will allow us to prepare more students to compete and feel confident in the knowledge and skills they are learning through FFA.”

Each year proceeds from the fund will be presented to the agriculture programs in the Macomb schools to use to help their program. “I feel the Macomb Agriculture programs are doing well as they have wonderful students and teachers, and we are very glad to make this distribution in Phil’s memory, to help keep their positive momentum”, Scott Coker MCCF chair.
