Spring into Summer

Community organizations and agencies are working on a fun-filled summer lineup to keep the boredom blues away this summer for McDonough County-area youth.

The Youth Task Force (YTF), a subcommittee of the McDonough County Quality of Life Committee (CQLC), will host 'Spring into Summer,' a program for area families to learn more about spring and summer activities, programs and registration opportunities.

The free event, which is open to McDonough County families, will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 2 at Macomb Middle School on South Johnson Street.

In addition to featuring numerous organizations and their spring and summer activities and programs, the family event will have games and activities, including Bags, giant Jenga, arts and crafts and snacks.

'Our volunteer-driven group believes in the power of education, community support and equal access to opportunities for all children and families in McDonough County,' said coordinator Abby Beck of the Regional Office of Education #26. 'We encourage area families with children to come out April 2 to learn more about the wonderful opportunities that are available this spring and summer.'
