The Bushnell-Prairie City High School girls softball team started its season this week, dropping three contests, including two on the road.
On Monday, the Spartans lost to visiting Princeville 18-0 in four innings.
Princeville scored all four innings it batted.
The visitors scored five runs in the first inning, seven in the second, four in the third and two more in the fourth.
Princeville finished with 13 hits, also taking advantage of nine Spartan errors.
Jayden Johnson pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 16 runs, seven earned, on nine hits. She struck out two and walked six.
Natalie Willey pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits.
Claire Sutherland pitched a four inning perfect game, retiring all 12 batters she faced. Sutherland struck out seven.
Ella Buckley homered, knocking in three runs for Princeville.
Sutherland had three hits and two runs batted in, while Tori Cattom had two hits, knocking in four runs for the visitors.
On Tuesday, the Spartans headed to Lewistown to play LVC in a Prairieland Conference contest.
The Miners tallied 12 runs in the opening inning and cruised to a 20-0 victory in four innings.
LVC added a single run in the second and seven more in the third, finishing the game with 15 hits.
Willey pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 17 runs, nine earned, on 12 hits. She struck out one, walked three and hit a batter.
Triniti Williams pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs, zero earned, on three hits.
The B-PC defense committed nine errors.
LVC’s Addison Roddis pitched a no-hitter. In four innings she struck out six and walked one.
Braylee Irwin and Cooper McLaren homered for LVC (2-0, 1-0 Prairieland).
McLaren had three hits, knocking in five runs, while Emery Thrasher doubled twice, knocking in four runs for the Miners.
On Wednesday, the Spartans headed to Galva for a non-conference contest.
Galva scored in four of the five innings it batted on the way to notching a 10-0 win in five innings.
The Wildcats improved to 2-1 on the season, while B-PC slipped to 0-3.
For the third straight game, the Spartans were held hitless. B-PC also committed five errors that led to six unearned runs for the hosts.
Galva put together threerun rallies in each of the first three innings in building a 9-0 lead.
The Wildcats notched their final run in the bottom of the fifth.
Johnson pitched two innings, allowing six runs, three earned, on six hits. She struck out three and walked three.
Willey pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing four runs, one earned, on five hits. She struck out four.
Jovie Weber had two hits, including a double, with two runs batted in for Galva.
Danielle Wigant and Kaylyn Gale added two hits each, with both players also scoring three runs apiece.
Kinsley Gale added two hits and two runs scored for the hosts.
Amber Plummer pitched four innings for Galva, striking out 10 and walking two.
Weber pitched the fifth inning, striking out the side.
B-PC returns to Prairieland Conference play Friday, heading to Brimfield to face Brimfield/Elmwood (2-2, 0-0).
On Saturday, the Spartans JV is slated to head to Rushville for contests against Illini West and the host Rockets.
