To the Editor:
Sports Facilities Company (SFC) recommended Macomb build a sports complex and that it could be an anchor for a larger retail and commercial development. This development could include hotels, restaurants and retail that might generate up to 300 jobs. The complex would be paid for by entry fees from teams in tournaments, entry fees for spectators and from local citizens that may choose to use the facility outside at scheduled events.
How many of the estimated 300 jobs would pay a living wage, including benefits?
How much would managing the complex cost and would that management be SFC, or could a management team be recruited from Macomb citizens?
I will attend the sports complex update on March 26, 2026 to hopefully get a more complete picture of this major proposal.
Doug McCullough, Macomb
