Calling all Western Illinois University art students: It is that time of year when your vision can transcend the studio and turn into something bigger—a career-defining resume builder or a well-deserved financial gain.
The Department of Art and Design is seeking student submissions for the 2026 Juried Student Exhibition. This year’s guest juror, Professor Emeritus Julie Mahoney will evaluate the entries to curate a collection that represents the best of WIU’s creative talent.
Interested artists must submit digital copies of their work by Friday, March 27, to Tyler Hennings at ta-hennings@wiu. edu. Notifications for approved pieces will be sent Monday, March 30, with physical work due for drop-off by Monday, April 13.
The exhibition officially opens Thursday, April 16, with a reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the University Art Gallery.
This is a prime opportunity for selected artists to stand alongside Mahoney and discuss the narratives behind their pieces.
