76, of Marietta
Michael Lee Myers, 76, of Marietta, Illinois, passed away at 5:11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born October 23, 1949, in Avon, IL, to Charles “Friday” and Joan (Taylor) Myers.
He is survived by his son, Todd (Sarah) Myers of Macomb, IL; and six grandchildren, Cody Myers, Angel Plate, Hailey (Christian) Jauntig, W.M. Gage Walters, Sahara Damron, and Iola Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Myers and Joan Proudy, and his aunt and uncle, John and Sally Berglund.
Michael spent his entire life living and working on the family farm, a place that was not only his livelihood but his passion. He also worked for a time at Pioneer in Good Hope and Chadco. in Bushnell, where he earned the nickname “P-Doo.”
On the farm, Michael found his greatest comfort among his beloved cows. They were more than livestock to him, they were his purpose. He took pride in caring for them and especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren everything they needed to know about working with cattle. His connection to the farm and his animals was deeply meaningful, a true reflection of a life rooted in dedication and simplicity.
Michael was a kind and hardworking man who focused on the task at hand and never asked for more than what a good day’s work could provide. He was known for his signature look, rarely seen without his aviator sunglasses, and for his quiet, steady presence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Eddy officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bushnell Township Cemetery.
