The Joshua Higgins' campaign held a meet-andgreet Saturday in Macomb at the Sports Corner. Joining Higgins at the Macomb campaign stop was Dillan Vancil, who is running against Julie Bickelhaupt on the GOP ticket for the U.S.
House seat currently held by Democratic Rep. Eric Sorensen. Congressperson Mary Miller, whose district covers a portion of Macomb, was also present at Saturday's event.
Higgins, who hails from Biggsville, is running against longtime incumbent Rep.
Norine Hammond, as well as Bailey Templeton for the Illinois House District 94 seat. A moderate group, which included supporters, Higgins’ campaign team and family members, gathered in the back room of the downtown establishment to meet Higgins.
Miller was met by protesters from the McDonough County Democratic Central Committee, who came together across the street at Chandler Park with signs and bullhorns, and also walked past the window where Miller was seated indoors to express their dissatisfaction with Miller and the current administration.
A MAGA supporter stood on the opposite side of the street with his banner supporting the current administration’s immigration policy.
