Here comes Kelley, the Easter Witch, hopping down the trail doing good things for the animals who have found themselves at the local shelter for whatever reason.
Kelley Martin, the owner of the online shop, 13 Broomsticks, is hosting her second annual pet food drive for the McDonough County Animal Shelter and Humane Society of McDonough County.
Martin is accepting donations of cat and dog food for the shelter, as well as funds to go toward an adoption, as part of Ostara, a modern holiday which is celebrated around the spring equinox.
The items will be delivered on April 20.
'In my spirituality, giving back completes the circle of life. Before losing my brick-and-mortar storefront location last year, I made a promise that I would continue to give back to my community in any way that I could. Just because I no longer have a physical store, doesn't mean I can't help move forward with my mission to give back,' Martin shared. 'This is just another way that members of our community can join together to support organizations in need. I love animals, as do so many others, so this is a great way to help those who need it most.'
Donations can be made by dropping off food for dogs and cats, as well as cleaning supplies, rags and blankets to Martin by messaging her on Facebook at facebook.com/13broomsticks or by calling (217) 506-1530, or by donating directly on the Amazon link Martin has set up at tinyurl. com/13BroomsticksShelter-Fundraiser. Cash donations through the Cash app to $13broomsticks can also be made, which will be used to fully fund an adoption fee.
'I'm trying to do an even bigger haul this year as the shelter is meeting max capacity more frequently and they can use all the help we can give,' Martin added.
