Coplan Named IBCA Third-Team All-State

West Prairie junior guard Braden Coplan has been named Class1A Third Team All-State by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

Members were selected by IBCA All-State Representatives at the 2026 IHSA Boys Basketball State Finals.

“With the announcement of it, I was excited for him and the recognition rightfully deserved,” said West Prairie coach Ian Conkling. “I nominated for a team better than what he received, but the accomplishment is a testament to his work ethics and determination as a basketball player.”

Coplan played in all 33 games for the Cyclones, averaging 26.5 points per game.

He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game for West Prairie, who finished the season with a final record of 26-7.

Coplan surpassed the 1,900 point mark by season’s end.

“I’ve seen players in my life that have big offensive numbers, but the team may be underwhelming,” said Conkling. “That wasn’t the case for us this season. What he did this year was increase his level of play to a standard that I can’t say many have seen, at least me personally.”

“Braden is a 24/7, 365 kid; a true leader for the Cyclones,” Conkling added. “His intensity and skill set the pace for his team and our success. He truly was a catalyst for bringing excitement and passion for our team and within our community. “

Coplan was one of 15 players selected to the third team. Ten players were selected to the first team and 10 more to the second team. In addition, 19 players were named special mention selections.
