Evelyn Hugo had a plan. She left her life and never looked back. She created, recreated, and continued to recreate herself as she navigated Hollywood’s Golden Age in the 1950s. As she recounts her life, at age 79, to an unknown journalist, she tells tales of love, ambition and fame – and her marriage to and relationships with 7 husbands. Throughout, the young journalist gets drawn into her stories, struggles with ‘why’ she was chosen to hear those stories and battles against the demands Ms. Hugo has for her story to be told. It is appalling and exciting and … the twist at the end is what brings it all together.
