By Brie Coder The word 'retrospective' carries a dual meaning: an exhibition charting an artist’s technical evolution and a nostalgic look back at the past. For the Macomb Arts Center’s (MAC) upcoming showcase, local artist Jim Yunker’s work embodies both definitions at the gallery’s latest exhibition, “A 50-Year Retrospective.”
Opening Tuesday, March 10, with a reception from 5:30-7 p.m., Yunker’s collection examines the landscapes and moments that have defined the local area over the last five decades. His work highlights what has remained constant and what has transformed within the community.
In addition to viewing the collection, visitors may participate in a silent auction for all pieces on display. Winning bidders can collect their artwork following the conclusion of the exhibition on Saturday, April 11. All proceeds from the auction will be generously donated to the MAC.
The Macomb Arts Center, located at 25 East Side Square, is open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4-7 p.m.
Fridays, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.
Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
