Three members of the Macomb Middle School wrestling team recorded top four finishes in Saturday’s Illinois Elementary School Association Class A Sectional C at Rochester.
Those finishes qualified the trio for next week’s IESA Class A State Wrestling Finals in DeKalb.
In the 119-pound division, Nick Trotter finished second, scoring 20.0 team points.
After receiving an opening- round bye, Trotter won his quarterfinal match by fall over Asher Reid of LeRoy in three minutes and 56 seconds.
In the semifinals, Trotter won in sudden victory over Judah Hedges of Canton Ingersoll by an 8-5 decision.
In the championship match, Brady Lowe of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley defeated Trotter by major decision, 13-2.
At 167 pounds, Sebastian Dieckhoner finished third, scoring 18.0 team points.
Dieckhoner defeated David Lichtenberger of Deer Creek-Mackinaw by pinfall (0:39) before pinning Xander Shevokas of Forrest Prairie Central in the quarterfinals (1:59).
In the semifinals, Chase Williams of Rochester pinned Dieckhoner in 0:49.
Moving to the consolation semifinals, Dieckhoner defeated James Giacomini of Williamsville by a 10-9 decision.
In the third place match, Dieckhoner won by fall over Shevokas for a second time, needing just 20 seconds in securing the win.
Finally, at 65 pounds, Kaden Smock finished fourth, scoring 7.0 team points.
Smock received a bye into the semifinals, where he was pinned by Eli Webster of Forrest Prairie Central in 3:11.
Smock rebounded by winning his consolation semifinal match, pinning Kelsey Irby of Tremont in 0:34.
In the third place match, Mackson Talley of Pontiac JHS won by fall over Smock in a time of 3:54.
Results for other MMS wrestlers included the following: 95 pounds - Evan Kling, 3-2, 10 team points 167 - Treyshaun Steele, 2-2, 7 team points 75 - Nick Montoya, 1-2, 2.5 team points 80 - Jaxon Worthington, 1-2, 2 team points 112 - Joe McKee, 1-2, 2 team points 135 - Adonis Jones, 1-2, 2 team points 100 - Kylen Gordon, 0-2 112 - Drake James, 0-2 155 - Remy Sensor, 0-2 215 - Levi Evans, 0-2 In team competition, the Bombers finished 14th out of 28 teams with a score of 70.5 points.
Stanford Olympia topped the 28-team field with 209 points.
