MACOMB, IL
At 11:58 AM, Sunday, March 8th, the Macomb Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 308 E. Summit St for a report of smoke coming from the attic. Fire Department personnel arrived on scene at 12:03 and observed smoke coming from the attic vents. The on-duty crew located the fire above the living room, and a ventilation hole was cut to gain access to the fire. The fire was extinguished and overhaul was conducted searching for any fire extension. The fire was brought under control at 12:36 PM. Two fire chiefs and six off-duty firefighters were called in to assist at the fire and provide coverage for any additional emergencies. Emmet-Chalmers FPD also assisted at the scene. Fire investigators processed the scene, and the scene was cleared at 1:37 PM.
No firefighters or civilians were injured.
The home sustained fire, smoke, and water damage and has an estimated loss of $25,000.
The cause of the fire was determined to be caused by an electrical issue and is still under investigation at the time of this release.
