
Jack W. Wayland, age 84, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at his home. He was born August 19, 1941, in Colchester, to Jesse and Inza Reno Wayland. Jack was united in marriage in 1991 in Macomb to Sherry Standard, she survives.
Surviving to mourn Jack’s passing is his wife, Sherry Wayland, 3 sons: James Wesley (Kristen) Wayland, Rushville, Darin Lee (Cindy) Foster, Macomb, Damon Foster, Macomb, 2 daughters: Tammy Wayland Plutz, Las Vegas, Nevada, Jane Wayland Irish, Las Vegas, Nevada, 7 grandchildren: Adam, Matt, Kylie, Kayla, Sydney, Isabella, Rial, 7 great grandchildren: Liley, Destiny, Ariannah, Bentley, Gemma, Payson, Scarlett, 2 brothers: Richard Wayland, Quincy, Jesse (Red) (Carole) Wayland, Monmouth, 3 sisters: Especia Mason, Quincy, Darlyne (Kay) (Charles) Ackers, Avon, and Lyn Newberry, Ft. Madison, Iowa Jack was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Jimmy Wayland, Doug Wayland, and his twin brother Joseph W. Wayland, 5 sisters: Nedra Amerine, Alma Feathers, Lila Alton, Jacquline Groves, Toni Schwanke, and a very close friend, Keith Bloomfield.
Jack served his country in the United States Air Force. He was stationed for 4 years in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. He went on to work at NTN Bower, where he later retired after 38 years. Jack and his dad ran the Fur Shed. Jack liked to be outdoors, he loved hunting, fishing, and hand fishing. He took joy in feeding deer and taking care of the animals in his back yard, as well as tinkering with things. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bulls. He was a strong Kansas City Chiefs fan, and would watch the football games by Facetime with his daughter, Tammy. The most important part of Jack’s life was his family, who he cherished.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Mike Eddy, burial will follow the services at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, where military rites will be performed by the Macomb V.F.W and Macomb American Legion. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M, Friday, March 6, 2026, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M to 7:00 P.M, Friday, March 6, 2026. Memorial is to Taps Animal Shelter in Pekin, IL.
