Macomb Middle School Wrestlers Win Regional Title

The Macomb Middle School wrestling program made history Saturday at Knoxville.

For the first time ever, the Bomber grapplers won an Illinois Elementary School Association Class 1A Regional title.

Macomb posted a team score of 258 points to claim top honors.

Host Knoxville finished second with 196 points, followed by Monmouth-Roseville with 189.5 points.

Three Bombers captured individual titles. Those wrestlers were Jaxon Worthington at 70 pounds; Kaden Smock at 65 pounds and Nick Trotter at 119 pounds.

Seven wrestlers recorded second place finishes including Nick Montoya (75 pounds), Kylen Gordon (100 pounds), Joe McKee (112 pounds), Sawyer Jackson (126 pounds), Remy Sensor (155 pounds), Sebastian Dieckhoner (167 pounds) and Levi Evans (215 pounds).

Third place finishers for the Bombers included Evan Kling (95 pounds), Drake James (112 pounds), Adonis Jones (135 pounds) and Treyshaun Steele (167 pounds).

Blayne James (80 pounds), Brayden Rankin (85 pounds) and Joseph Root (135 pounds) recorded fourth place finishes.

For the Bombers that means a trip to Rochester on Mar. 7 for the IESA Class 1A Sectional C event.
