An ad supporting Joe Moon for the McDonough County Sheriff position, published in the Friday, February 28 edition of the Community News Brief, stated that it was paid for by Citizens for Joe Moon. However, this organization/name is not affiliated with the Joe Moon for Sheriff campaign, nor was it paid for by campaign funds.
This ad was submitted and paid for by a private individual/group.
In the future, any ad claiming to be from an organization tied to a candidate's name, but not approved by that candidate must include the name of the person who submitted and paid for the ad. The ad must also follow the Community News Brief's "Letter to the Editor" policy (see below).
We hope this clears up any confusion and apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
