City Community Event Calendar Connects Residents to 85 Local Organizations

The City of Macomb introduced its centralized Community Event Calendar last spring, serving as a programming hub that provides an easy way for residents and visitors to discover upcoming events, stay informed about local happenings, and engage more fully with the community.

After nine months of operation, the calendar has generated more than 61,500 event page views and featured a total of 1,942 events from 85 different community organizations and businesses.

Through an API integration process, four community partners automatically pull new events onto the calendar daily, while the remaining 81 event organizers manually upload their events to the database.

The City has also utilized the calendar as a registration platform for summer swimming lessons at Glenwood Pool, to list tickets for sale for Dickens on the Square holiday attractions, and to keep the community informed about events they are registered for.

“We have been very pleased with the community engagement the calendar has generated so far,” said Marketing and Downtown Development Director Savannah Ballard. “With the spring and summer event seasons right around the corner, new events are being added daily. Now is the perfect time to explore the calendar, find events to attend, and see what Macomb has to offer,” she added.
