Interim Chief Todd Tedrow and Sergeant Herrick.

Herrick Named Officer of the Year

Three Macomb Police Department (MPD) officers were recognized Friday for their efforts in upholding the law and for providing compassionate service to the community in which they serve.

Bryce Herrick, who was also promoted to the rank of sergeant, during the Feb. 20 ceremony in City Hall, was named the 2025 Officer of the Year. Each year, a panel composed of MPD personnel vote to select one officer among their ranks for the award.

'During 2025, Officer Herrick consistently demonstrated an outstanding work ethic while serving as the night shift officer-in-charge and field training officer. He is widely regarded as ambitious, motivated and proactive in his daily patrol activities, and he continually sought out issues within the community to address dangerous and disorderly behavior,' said MPD Interim Chief Todd Tedrow. 'His work, including his thorough and compassionate investigation in an animal neglect case combined with a mental health crisis, along with his proactive policing has resulted in measurable improvements in our community's quality of life. His dedication, leadership and service exemplify the highest standards of the Macomb Police Department and make him highly deserving of the 2025 Officer of the Year Award.'

Social Services Coordinator Sally Vigezzi was also recognized with a letter of commendation for her work 'unwavering commitment to compassion and service' in the Macomb community.

'SSC Vigezzi serves as a vital bridge between those in need and the resources that can make a real difference. She builds and maintains strong partnerships with local agencies and nonprofits. She responds thoughtfully to a wide range of requests, often in extremely difficult situations,' Tedrow noted. 'Officer Vigezzi's work reflects the very best of our community by approaching every interaction with empathy and respect for each person's dignity. Through her work, she makes Macomb a safer, more supportive place for all residents.'

Officer Korby Foxall received the Chief's Recognition Award for his dedication, commitment to public safety and initiative. Foxall set a personal and professional goal to ensure public safety by removing impaired drivers from the roadway, the chief explained.

'Officer Foxall pursued advanced training opportunities and became certified as a Standardized Field Sobriety Test Officer. In addition to his DUI enforcement efforts, he has actively mentored fellow officers in DUI enforcement, which further strengthens overall department effectiveness,' Tedrow shared. 'His professionalism, work ethic and commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset to the Macomb Police Department, and a deserving recipient of this award.'
