A family of four, The Eckcellent Puzzlers, won the Macomb Park District's annual Puzzle Wars Saturday, at Washington Street Gym in Macomb, completing a 500-piece puzzle in 31 minutes and 34 seconds – a record for the event.
The victory marked the first year the Park District expanded the competition from 20 to 30 teams, reflecting surging interest in competitive puzzle racing. Teams of two to four raced against the clock for two hours to complete the same puzzle with the fastest team claiming the championship.
The Puzzle Queens finished second with a time of 39 minutes and 30 seconds. Baileys Busters took third place with a time of 41 minutes and 50 seconds. { Editor’s Note: As part of the registration process, the Park District did not require the names of team members; therefore, The Community News Brief is unable to include the names of those on the winning teams}.
The event drew participants ages 10 and up. Youth under 16 competed with adult partners. Teams paid $40 to enter, and each team kept their puzzle as part of the registration fee.
The Park District plans to host Puzzle Wars again next year. Registration details and event dates will be announced closer to the competition.
