Young Artists Upcoming Exhibit

In a fast-paced, hightech world, Pablo Picasso’s famous observation that “painting is just another way of keeping a diary” remains as relevant as ever. To step into the minds of the next generation, there is no better window than the Macomb Arts Center’s (MAC) annual “Young Artists I” exhibition.

The show will open on Tuesday, Feb. 24, with a reception and awards ceremony from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The exhibition features the work of middle and high school students from across McDonough County.

These young creators offer a raw and honest look at their world, using various mediums to document their experiences, much like the visual diaries Picasso described. The upcoming reception will celebrate their achievements, with awards presented to standout artists in several categories.

“Young Artists I” will remain on display through Saturday, March 7. The Macomb Arts Center, located at 25 East Side Square, is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturdays. Admission is free and open to the public.
