St. Paul Taize Prayer Service

St. Paul Church is hosting Taize prayer services throughout Lent — a meditative practice built on chanting, silence, and scripture that draws thousands of people worldwide seeking peace and spiritual grounding. Starting February 25, one week after Ash Wednesday, St. Paul Church will host this ecumenical service at 5:15, lasting approximately 30 minutes.

Beginning in 1940, Brother Roger Schutz founded a community in Taize, France as a place of refuge during the troubling times of World War II. Its remote location offered a sanctuary for those fleeing the war. Over time the community grew and became known for its unique approach to Christian spiritually, focusing on simplicity, peace and prayer. The distinctive style of Taize prayer developed in the 1950s and 60s with meditative chanting, scripture and silence.

Taize prayer centers around the themes of peace, reconciliation and the presence of God. The repetitive nature of the chants encourage a deep and meditative experience.

Today, Taize prayer is practiced worldwide and we are pleased to offer this slightly abbreviated service on February 25, March 4, 11, 18 and culminating on the 25th. We hope you can join us to pray in these troubled times.
