So many things happening in our world. Watched the Super Bowl. My favorite commercial was the Budweiser horse with the eagle. Though I don’t speak Spanish, watched the half time show with interest. There were so many things packed into it and I’m sure that I missed some of the significance but I’m willing to try to go beyond Neil Diamond in my music preferences.
Have been watching as much of the Olympics as I can fit in to my schedule. Love them. Do not feel it is appropriate for our president to call competitors “losers” but there are so many things he does which I don’t feel are appropriate. Felt so sorry for Ilia Malinin who skates so beautifully but had some mental anguish and did not do well in his main event.
And now there are five. Our Table Talk group meets at Living Faith at 9:30 on Sunday morning. There are normally six of us but we lost one of our group this week. David Grace had a stroke and a brain bleed and he passed away. He was such a nice man and so considerate. His services were held on Saturday at the church. The church was full. Wish his family well and know that we all will miss him very much. Busy week on the personal level too. Met with my lawyer who wants me to make a trust. Not as easy as it sounds. Went to DMV to change titles on vehicles and they were closed. Need to change deeds also but Monday is my day off and the courthouse will be closed so things are on hold.
The group who cares for the Plymouth Circle Community Center (PCCC) is planning a chicken and noodle fund raiser on March 28th. Put that date on your calendar.
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. It is such a special day if you have a special someone in your life and a very difficult day if you do not. Have mentioned before that being a widow sucks. A big thank you to those who reached out to me on Valentine’s Day. Each card and greeting was appreciated! Hope you had a good day!
Today was lovely. The Plymouth Park was filled with people this afternoon. I drove with my car window open. Have been seeing a lot of eagles in the area. There have been several in the fields between Augusta and Plymouth as well as several west of town. It is wonderful that conservation methods have worked to increase their numbers. We need to increase protections for our wildlife and our planet not decrease them. What does it gain for a few to have great wealth if there is not a planet capable of sustaining life. It is not right for our leaders to do things which could lead to more wars or to restart the nuclear arms race.
The people getting Bruce Morton’s house ready to sell called me today and I am so grateful to have received two of his framed photographs. Thank you.
Sorry if this column is a bit gloomy. Sometimes life is messy. It is so important to tell those you love or cherish how you feel. It is equally important to be kind to others and to try to raise them up. Be thankful for what you have and thank God for each day. Tomorrow is not guaranteed so make the best of today.
