To the Editor:
McDonough County Citizens, Over the course of my tenure on the McDonough County Board I have had the opportunity to work with Sheriff Petitgout in several capacities.
As a former Chairman of the Law and Legal committee I worked closely with him as a chief duty. I continue to work with him as a member of this committee. He reports monthly to the committee with updates regarding every aspect of his office’s responsibilities. Sheriff Petitgout's communication with the committee is prompt, detailed, and professional. This communication extends beyond the meetings to phone calls and meetings, initiated by myself or the Sheriff. His attendance at all the McDonough County Full Board Meeting allows ease of communication with the entire board.
As McDonough County Finance Committee Chairman, I have worked closely with Sheriff Petitgout on his extremely complex multimillion dollar budget. Year after year he has operated within the tight constraints of the budget and provided our county with exceptional service. I have seen first-hand how he accomplishes this level of service through the management of the entire department, his interactions with other county offices, and his dedication to the safety and betterment of our county.
In this time of massive challenges facing our law enforcement, our county is blessed to have Sheriff Petitgout.
