To the Editor:
Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-15th) recently emailed a survey to McDonough County residents asking which of five issues mattered most to them and their families. Voters were invited to check boxes on Election Integrity, Mass Deportations & Border Security, Affordability and Eliminating Waste, Fraud and Abuse.
Miller said in the email, “I want to hear directly from you.” But some constituents noticed that checking a box without a place to comment might lead to misinterpretations about what their concerns about things – like Mass Deportations – were. They also noticed that Miller has held hardly any Town Hall meetings in any of the counties she represents, which would also allow voters to speak directly to her.
To help rectify this lack of communication, a group of volunteers are organizing a visit to Quincy Saturday, February 28 from noon-2 p.m., to drop off letters or just bring signs that help them answer the questions Miller asked.
Residents of McDonough County are invited to join them on Saturday, Feb. 28. More details will be announced next week.
