Mark your calendars for the fourth annual McDonough County Jobapalooza!
Area residents who need a job, and businesses and organizations that have openings and need employees, the annual job fair might be just the thing.
The countywide Jobapalooza, hosted by the McDonough County Quality of Life Committee (CQLC), will be held from 1-4 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, at the Spoon River College (SRC) Outreach Center, 2500 E. Jackson St., Macomb. Last year's event had approximately 127 job seekers from 12 communities, and approximately 39 area employers participating. The event was created in 2022 as a result of the QCLC hearing the same refrain: businesses and organizations needed employees.
'Jobapalooza is a great opportunity that brings employers who have open positions all under one roof in front of a large group of potential employees. There are plenty of job opportunities throughout our county, in a variety of fields, and Jobapalooza is the perfect way for job-seekers to apply for the jobs in our area,' said Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation's President and CEO Kim Pierce, who serves as the CQLC Jobapalooza committee chair. 'For those individuals needing assistance getting started with their job search, we'll also be providing numerous resources on site during the event. We’ll have numerous companies and organizations looking for good people.”
Available 'support stations' at Jobapalooza to help job-seekers include creating and reviewing resumes, as well as printing resumes on quality paper. The job fair, is open to full-time, part-time, and seasonal job seekers, ages 16+, features prospective employers from McDonough County retailers, nonprofits, government and educational organizers and industries. The event is sponsored by the McDonough County Quality of Life Committee, Community News Brief, Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation, Macomb Park District, Spoon River College, Western Illinois Regional Council, Western Illinois University and Workforce Innovation Board of Western Illinois.
'This event comes together because of the collaborative efforts of so many agencies who work to make McDonough County better. We couldn’t host this event without the active participation of our community partners and of course, our area employers who see the value in taking part in this event each year,' Pierce added.
Employers interested in hosting a table, for a $40 fee, at the job fair can register at bit.ly/jobapalooza26. Potential employees can also visit the site for employment-related tips. For more information, contact the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, (309) 837-4855.
