The YMCA of McDonough County Senior Center will offer the free program, 'A Matter of Balance,' which emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls. This award-winning program is designed to teach individuals ages 60 and older how to manage falls and increase activity levels.
Program participants will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home and exercise to increase strength and balance. Trained coaches lead classes. Those interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength as well as anyone who has fallen in the past or is concerned about falls should consider registering. Class size is limited.
Classes will be held from 9-11 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 3-26, at the YMCA of McDonough County Senior Center. Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling (309) 837-5733. This program is made possible through the Illinois Extension, YMCA of McDonough County Senior Center and WIAAA.
